    IT1106 - 'Information Systems' is one of the modules designed for Semester 1 of Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) Degree Program. Information Systems and Technology aims to develop an understanding of the components of Computer-Based Information Systems (CBIS), their functions and types of CBIS used in organizations. Furthermore, it aims to provide a general understanding of the information system acquisition process and helps to find appropriate information system solutions to meet the organizational requirements as well as ethical, privacy and security issues associated with the use of information systems.

    IT1306 - 'Free and Open Source Software for Personal Computing' is one of the modules designed for Semester 1 of Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) Degree Program. Open-source software can be used to get our work done without having to go through the cost of licensing. Authors of these software, make the source code available to others who would like to view that code, copy it, learn from it, alter it, or share it. LibreOffice and the GIMP are examples of open-source software, but there are many more.

    This course will teach you how to use free and open-source software to get your work done, be it academics or professional means of work.

    T1406 - 'Introduction to Programming' is one of the modules designed for Semester 1 of Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) Degree Program. Introduction to Programming introduces programming methodologies using basic programming notions. In this course, the Java language is used as the medium to practically familiarize students with taught concepts in programming (Java is widely used around the world as a language to introduce programming theory).

    On completion of this course, students will be able to design and develop programs for specified tasks using Java as an Object-Oriented Programming Language.
